Let’s get some restaurant recommendations up on the site. Here’s a temporary list for starters. Hopefully we can replace this with individual reviews.

Pizza

Frankies – for wood-oven pizza

Coal Fire – for coal-oven pizza

Piece – for New Haven style pizza

Asian

Cho Sun Ok – Korean BBQ

Chi Cafe – Chinese snacks

Saints Alps – Hong Kong chain for Chinese snacks

Phoenix – dim sum (good shrimp)

Mountain View – dim sum

Tank Noodle – pho

Indian Garden -

Mount Everest – (in Evanston)

Local

Ann Sather – cinnamon buns, herring, beware of Chicago-sized portions

Hot Doug’s – gourmet hot dogs, duck fat fries

Portillo’s – Chicago dogs, the fast food alternative

Mado – amazing meat plate, actually everything amazing

Seven on Seven (in Macy’s) – for lunch, when in the Loop

Hopleaf – beer selection, mussels and frites, beef brisket, (but some misses)

Bourgeouis Pig Cafe – cozy cafe

Italian

Coco Pazzo Cafe – amazing

Ristorante Prosecco – antipasti

Mexican

Nueva Leon

Taco Veloz – cheap food, awesome Elvis impersonators

Frontera – excellent cocktails and desserts

Other ethnic

Sayat Nova – love their lentil soup

El Rinconcito – Cuban food!

Arco de Cuchilleros – Spanish tapas

So-So

Orange – for coffee/drinks, but not so much for food

La Creperie -meh

The Grocery – meh, grown-up children’s foods

Pizzeria Via Stato – overpriced, just ok

Bistrot Margot – overpriced, claims to be French food

Crust – thin crust pizza and interesting drinks

Emilios – tapas
